Incident Command Vehicle

- Haverhill
Police Department Sergeant David Currier and Officer John Little gave Club Members a tour of the Incident
Command Vehicle and presented the following information:
- The Incident Command Vehicle
was purchased in November 2004 for $170,000.00. Monies for the
Incident Command Vehicle was obtained through Community Policing
Grants.
- The Incident Command Vehicle
has a 30-foot Winnebago body on a Ford Motor Company chassis
and was built to Haverhill Police Department design specifications
by Farber Specialty Vehicles located in Columbus, Ohio.
- The Incident Command Vehicle
is used as a base of operations for police, fire or emergency
management officials responding to hostage situations, fires,
missing person searches, large-scale events or any other event
deemed necessary.
- The Incident Command Vehicle
has radio, telephone, wireless high-speed Internet, cable television,
cell and satellite telephone capabilities and computer systems
that allows officers and officials to communicate with national
agencies, state police and other local departments. In addition,
the Incident Command Vehicle has access to:
- The police department's computer-aided
dispatch center at the police station that includes satellite
and aerial mapping views of the entire City of Haverhill
- National agencies and state
police databases such as the Registry of Motor Vehicles and criminal
records.
- Blueprints and schematics drawings
of all public schools
- The Incident Command Vehicle
has four inside workstations:
- One workstation for the officer
in command.
- Three workstations for other
police officers, fire department personal or other emergency
management official assigned to the vehicle depending on the
nature of the incident.
- The Incident Command Vehicle
has one outside workstation that can be quickly assembled and
place under a fully automatic and retractable awning. The awning
is wind speed sensitive and will retract if the wind speed reaches
30 mph.
- The Incident Command Vehicle
has a conference area in the back that has a 42-inch plasma monitor
on the wall as well as video recording capabilities.
- The Incident Command Vehicle
has a video camera mounted on a 36-foot mast that can receive
outside area images and play the images on any of the monitors
located throughout the vehicle.
- The Incident Command Vehicle
has a bathroom and a galley-type kitchen.
- The Incident Command Vehicle
has a bathroom and a small galley-type kitchen.
- The Incident Command Vehicle
has on board diesel generators and is fully air conditioned.
- The Incident Command Vehicle
is also available for Haverhill's "Mutual Aide Response"
for Haverhill's to surrounding Massachusetts and New Hampshire
communities.
- Haverhill Police Department
Sergeant David Currier and Officer John Little were invited to
speak at our Club by Haverhill Melvin Jones Fellow and Life Member
Eric Powell.
