Meeting Highlights
December 21, 2004

  • December 21, 2004 (Tuesday) 6:30 pm: Regular Meeting at Maria's Family Restaurant, 81-83 Essex Street, Haverhill, MA. Guest speaker Timothy Schiavoni, United Way of Merrimack Valley President. Please click here for map and directions to Maria's Family Restaurant.

  • Meeting Highlights:
    • Timothy Schiavoni, United Way of Merrimack Valley President spoke about how the United Way brings together people from all across the community – from government, business, faith groups, nonprofit, and ordinary citizens to tackle the issues that matter most. Mr. Schiavoni stated the United Way of Merrimack Valley serves 34 cities and towns in northeast Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Through its "Product Philanthropy - Gifts in Kind" program, the United Way is able to distribute items or services such as computers, food, office supplies, shelter supplies, paper goods, etc. - all donated by local and national corporations.
    • Haverhill Lions President John Pettis, Jr. announced that the Holiday Party was a huge success for all 28 plus people in attendance.
    • Haverhill Lions President/PDG John Pettis, Jr. provided information about the upcoming District 33N Mid Winter Convention information.
      • The Mid Winter Ad Book content, advertisement size, etc. for VDG Candidate Sharon Potter has been submitted.
      • Lions Eric Powell and Ken Parker, Jr. volunteered be Co-Chairs for the Super Bowl Raffle to be held in the Tewksbury Lions Club's hospitality room.
      • Lions Ken Parker, Jr., John Pettis and Gary Albanese have volunteered to assist the Tewksbury Lions Club in their hospitality room.
      • Lions Toby and Linda Lynch have volunteered to assist VDG Candidate Sharon Potter in her hospitality room.
    • IPP Jane Sweeney reported that 'thank you" letters had been sent out for Nick's Opportunities.
    • IPP Jane Sweeney gave an update on the Spring comedy night.

    • The Club unanimously voted to send a $50.00 donation to Visual Aids in memory of David O'Brien, III.
    • The Club unanimously voted to send a $50.00 donation to Mass Eye Research in memory of Doris L. Perry.
    • IPP Jane Sweeney reported that 'thank you" letters had been sent out for Nick's Opportunities.
    • IPP Jane Sweeney gave an update on the comedy night that . More information to follow in January 2005.
    • A 'Holiday Card and Tip" was presented to our Maria's Family Restaurant waitresses for their outstanding service at our meetings. Thank you Yulia and Crystal!
