Meeting Highlights
February 1, 2005

  • Meeting Highlights:
    • Dr. Tom Bower, DMD, a Haverhill Massachusetts dentist with his office in Bradford, spoke about the changes in dentistry, i.e., advances in technologies, over the past two decades and the effects that the advances have on many dental procedures. Dr. Bower concentrated his talk on the various cosmetic dentistry procedures available today to whiten teeth and the advantages/disadvantages that each option has versus the others.
    • Haverhill Lions President/PDG John Pettis, Jr. gave a summary of the January 21, 22 & 23, 2005 District 33N Mid Winter Conference.
      Lions Eric Powell and Ken Parker, Jr., Co-Chairs for the Super Bowl Raffle, gave a progress report.
      • Special kudos were expressed to Kathy Parker and North Andover Lions Club President Betty Pettis for their outstanding effort on ticket sales at the January 21, 22 & 23, 2005 District 33N Mid Winter Conference.
    • IPP Jane Sweeney gave a update on the comedy night that will be in the Spring 2005. Date will be either April 1, 8 or 16, 2005.
    • Red-On-Red Night plans were discussed for the February 15, 2005 Regular Meeting. Red-on-Red gifts should be in the $10 to $15 range. Members' guests are invited to attend.
    • Haverhill Life Member and Melvin Jones Fellow Eric Powell was appointed Director for the remaining 2004-2005 year.
    • Haverhill Life Member and Melvin Jones Fellow Kenneth Parker, Jr. received the Quarter Century Award Pin for attaining twenty-five years of membership in Lions Clubs from 2004-2005 Haverhill Lions President/PDG John Pettis, Jr.

    • Eyeglass Chairperson Doug Fowler presented two eyeglass and examination requests. Both requests were discussed and voted on separately with $125.00 voted for each.
    • Haverhill Lions President John Pettis, Jr. reminded all members to start "thinking" about nominations for next year's officers.
    • Haverhill Lions President John Pettis, Jr. reminded all Club Members that the next Board of Directors Meeting would be on February 8, 2005 at 1st VP Linda and Director Toby Lynch home. Dinner to be provided. All Club Members are invited to attend.
