    • Guest Speaker Haverhill Boys Club Executive Director Shawn Menzie spoke about:

      • The history of the Haverhill Boys Club which was chartered in Haverhill back in the late 1800's. The Haverhill Boys Club was the 27th chartered Boys Club in the United States which currently has over 3500 clubs.
      • The purpose of the Haverhill Boys Club and how in today's society boys in every community are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets.
      • He explained how an increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision and that young people need to know that someone cares about them.
      • He also explained that the Haverhill Boys Club is a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun.
      • He described the various programs and activities offered at the club including:
        • Education and Homework Help
        • Technology Lab Including Computers and Internet Access
        • Health and Life Skills
        • The Arts
        • Sports, Fitness & Recreation
        • Camp Tasker Summer Camp
      • Haverhill Boys Club Executive Director Shawn Menzie to speak at our Club by Haverhill Life Member and Past President William Faraci, Jr.
    • Haverhill Lions President/PDG John Pettis, Jr. gave the Club reports about the following Multiple District 33 and District 33N upcoming events:
      • The District 33N Governor Testimonial to be held at the Wyndam Hotel in Andover, Massachusetts on Saturday, April 23, 2005.
      • The District 33N Thirteenth Annual Journey for Sight Walkathon to be held on Sunday, April 24, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Horn Pond in Woburn, Massachusetts
      • The Multiple District 33 State Convention to be held April 29 through May 1, 2005 at the Sheraton Nashua Hotel, Nashua, NH.
    • Haverhill Lions President/PDG John Pettis, Jr. reminded the Club about our Annual Street Collection on Saturday, June 4, 2005. PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND PARTICIPATE. We need all Club Members to make this event successful. VP Linda Lynch and IPP Jane Sweeney volunteered to be Co-Chairpersons for the event.
    • Haverhill Lions President/PDG John Pettis, Jr. reminded all Members that the Club is accepting nominations for next year's officers at the May 17, 2005 regular meeting. He has asked that all Past Presidents consider "stepping-up-to-plate" in either an officer's or director's leadership role for next year. Nominations to date:

    • Haverhill Lions President/PDG John Pettis, Jr. reminded the Club that we will be coordinating with the City of Haverhill's service clubs to repair the current Haverhill "Welcome Signs". Director Eric Powell, Club Chairperson for the event, provided the following information:
      • When: Saturday, May 14, 2005
      • Time: 8 am
      • Where To Meet: Rivers Edge Plaza (Building 19) near the Dunkin Donuts.
      • Club Members please call Lion Eric at (978) 373-7489 let him know if you will be or not be particpating.
