Haverhill Lions Club Photo - Picture of 2003-2004 Haverhill Lions President Jane Sweeney -- September 2003 -- Dear Lions Club Members and Supporters, This coming year will prove challenging for our fund raising efforts. We will need to be more creative and find new ways to reach our goals. A suggestion of collecting old cell phones for reimbursement is being tossed around. Also the 2nd Santa breakfast in December is in the works. If you have any suggestions or ideas please bring them to the meeting. See you at the Mandarin Buffet! Yours in Lionism, -- October 2003 -- Dear Lions Club Members and Supporters, The leaves are turning and the air is getting colder. It is time to put the summer behind us and start planning our fall fund raiser. We are in the process of putting into place, the collecting of cell phones for the PhoneRaising Program. Through this program, cell phones are refurbished and then donated to abused women and also to bus drivers. The refurbished cell phones are set up to only be able to dial out 911 for an emergency only. Our plan is that after the cell phones are collected, we will then send them by free shipping to the PhoneRaising Program. They in turn will send us a check. I am asking all to e-mail 5 friends and ask them to e-mail 5 of their friends with this information. We will have more information at our upcoming meetings. See you there! Yours in Lionism, -- November 2003 -- Dear Lions Club Members and Supporters, It's chilly times ahead, sweater wearing time, and thinking of those less fortunate not being able to see the vibrant colors of the foliage this year. So let's get to work and start collecting old cell phones for our Fall fund raising event. The fund raising effort will be for the the DONATE A PHONE® CALL TO PROTECT® program. Please ask your friends and family members for theirs. I suggest that we all e-mail 5 friends and ask them to e-mail 5 of their friends with this information. We will have more information at our upcoming meetings. The first zone meeting went well, thanks to Mark Quinlin. It was great to see visiting Lions and to share ideas, and to be informed of the fund raising efforts going on in our district. See you all at our upcoming meetings! Yours in Lionism, -- December 2003 -- Dear Lions Club Members and Supporters, Let's hope that the turkey has settled and that we are getting ready for another round of parties and holiday festivities. I'm so grateful that my family and friends will be able to see all the beautiful lights being displayed throughout our neighborhoods. Imagine not being able to see the star on top of a tree or the colorful blinking lights. Let's hope that through our fund raising events such as the Santa Breakfast on Dec. 20th, we will be able to help give sight to someone less fortunate so that they might see the beautiful lights of this holiday season. The rest of the year will be jammed packed with activities, including the dance on the April 17th, comedy night, the eyemobile in May and the 2nd annual yard sale.
